Feelin’ It

Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog! I hope that you decided to support and follow my journey onto becoming successful in modeling. My blog focuses on the male modeling industry, fashion and my life in getting made. I hope that my blog will serve as a guide to getting started in the industry, diet and exercise and behind the scenes of the industry itself. Feel free to leave comments and feedback and help spread the word to your friends! Thanks again and enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who posted comments on the last entry! To answer some questions you guys asked:

Teddy- I did it at my gym in Florida they have this device that does it. You can buy online, or at a GNC a fat measurer. There are two kinds: one that pinches your fat (more accurate *Thanks RaeAnne* but lowers your self esteem- I don’t like it) or the one that is electronic (much better because it doesnt make you want to kill yourself as much by pinching you). Also, Fitrec will do it for 20 bucks.

Lindsey- YES! The winner of Launch My Line on Bravo will have their line launched on Ruelala (which is the website I shoot for)!

Amanda- I am going to hopefully be working with an agency in New York this summer! Crossing my fingers!

Brian, Erica, Jenn, RaeAnne and Kara- You guys didn’t really ask anything, but thanks for commenting!

Fashion and Entertainment

I decided to incorporate a weekly entertainment update in my blog. I also decided to go to the best person for the job!

Couture shows are done. Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel showed a look into the future with his line, full of color, and very shiny. My point though for bringing this up, Baptiste escorted the final look, the wedding dress, down the runway. Luck dude… he is Lagerfeld’s “partner,” I am completely willing to be one of the greatest name’s of fashion muse… So Baptiste, WHENEVER you are over it, I will take over for you… NBD (no big deal).

Man fur… not the gross kind, but the cool, yet bad for animal rights, kind of fur is going to be very “in” this fall. Yes, I know it is very far in advance but the fall shows are underway, and this I knowledge that can save money and make you look cooler. Below, I put 4 looks from Dolce and Gabbana’s Milan Fall 2010 show. Do you like? I do!

As promised, below is the planner picture taken last Sunday at Abercrombie and Fitch at Faneuil Hall, in Boston. What do you all think of it?

The Happenings

I don’t know if I mentioned it but I am trying to do detox programs more often. It is good to cleanse your body and help normal body functions. I started a new one on Monday. It is the GNC 7 day program. Hopefully, if I stick to the eating regiment, you will see a lot of just fruit and veggies in my diet. However, it is hard to get enough calories in day just eating those things, so I have to eat a lot of them and through some more substantial foods in the mix.

I am going to Manhattan today and tomorrow I am going to see what I hope will be my apartment for the summer! Still crossing my fingers! Also, tonight is Pedro’s birthday party and I am excited because I have the best costume. Ooo I also found a cheap hotel room at Hotel Pennsylvania, so I am staying there this trip! I can’t wait to have a room and nice bed to myself for a few days!

I am trying to get more photos to update my book. I was on Model Mayhem , a website for models, photographers, make-up artists, etc, and came across a ton of castings. I sent my pictures to a designer, Michael Anthony, pictures are above, looking to shoot “lookbook”. A lookbook consists of photos of a designer’s collection. Anyways, I was chosen to shoot lookbook for the designer. Here comes the problem. The shoot had a call time of 9 am this morning. I could not miss one of the classes I have that day, as we have a paper due soon. I had to tell them that I couldn’t do it. It is nice to know that I have some interest though… But I did have a test shoot with Michael Thomas ( www.mthomasphoto.net) and the pictures are above. I hope you like!

As many of you may know, I AM OBSESSED WITH DJ TIESTO, saw him last year in NYC and best night ever… I just discovered this song and I am definitely feelin’ it!

Thiago, Armani and Me… with a bit of Heidi Montag?

I want to start by getting your opinion on this song… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY05nfXRz5w

Not bad, Heidi Montag, but I cannot seem to take you seriously… Sorry! What do you think?!

So I got the opportunity to talk to Thiago with New York Model Management. He is the top minority model of the moment right now, and he’s far from falling. Not only has he landed a Dior campaign, but has walked for shows Y-3, Custo Barcelona and General Idea.

What is your favorite part of being a model? My favorite part [of being a model] we get to know a lot of places, cultures and peoples at such a young age, that, at least me, I wouldn’t be able to know, and the age counts, because some people eventually go to those places, but they already have a family and others responsibilities, not saying that we models don’t, but much less, so we can enjoy it at the most, as long as we want and realize the opportunity.
Favorite memory or shoot from being a model? The coolest memory that I have just happened, and OMG I recommend that to everyone… I just came back from Vieques- Puerto Rico, and there’s a place called Bio Bay, I’ve never seen a sky like that… AMAZING!!! And that’s not the whole thing, the place is named Bio Bay because it has bioluminescent microorganisms…OMG IT’S AMAZING X 2 when you touch the water it shines blue…. That was one of the best experience of my life=DDD
Not many minorities have had the opportunity to book a major campaign, let alone Dior, how does it feel? Yeah it’s true, Dior… It’s such a [blessing] for me, I’m really thankful to God, and to everyone from Dior, that gave me this opportunity, especially to Kriss… After Dior people knew my name at the castings=DDD and I felt so good with that=D
If you were not modeling, what would you be doing? I would probably be doing what I’m going to do, my plan is to go to college in the middle of this year, I chose the business manger course, I’m interested in [the] stock market and things related to that, but now I’ll take on-line classes.

I don’t know about you guess, but he seems like the nicest person. For someone who has experienced so much in a short amount of time, he is down to earth. Thiago is currently in the Dominican Republic and heading to Paris soon. Awesome job Thiago and keep up the great work and continue to represent!

Here is the link to watch the Dior F/W 09 show. Thiago opened… if that isn’t G status, I don’t know what is… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5eqMyFgY0c

The Happenings

I went to Florida this past weekend for my cousin, RaeAnne’s wedding. It was beautiful and I am so happy for her and James!

I got back Sunday and went straight to the gym. I was in a rush because then I had to go to Abercrombie to do the planner picture. For those of you who do not know, the planner picture is a picture that every Abercrombie and Fitch (Hollister, Abercrombie, Gilly Hicks and Ruehl-before it closed) takes and submits to home office. The home office picks the top 20ish stores and puts them in a little booklet that gets sent to all the stores. One store gets chosen to be the “cast of” whatever season it is. My store in Boston has been in the planner every time since I have been there. This time we had 44 people, I think. It’s crazy. Most stores do 8-10, for the smaller stores and 20ish for the larger ones like 5th Ave. I am hoping I can get a copy of the picture we took, but we will see. The last Planner Picture we took was the one I posted on my first entry 🙂

As I am writing this entry, I am cooking a new recipe that I sort of created from the idea my manager at Fitrec gave me. I’ll tell you all about it, if it’s a success J … It was sort of…

Ezekiel (flourless and low carb) whole grain bread layered with roasted garlic hummus sautéed spinach mushrooms, onions and green peppers. The bread is soaked with egg whites to add moisture then baked for about 40 minutes, or until the egg whites are fully cooked.

Now it smells really good and tasted pretty good, but something is missing but can’t put my finger on it… I need some taste testers.

While I was in Tampa for the weekend, I tested my body fat percentage and turns out that I am half way to my goal of being under 8%. I am currently just under 10%.

Looks like I found my apartment for the summer! Columbus Ave and 94th St (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=94th+st+and+columbus+avenue+new+york+new+york&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Columbus+Ave+%26+W+94th+St,+New+York,+NY+10025&gl=us&ei=mmFWS-nGIM-m8Aah4vG_Aw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAsQ8gEwAA )in the Upper West Side, which is where I wanted all along J Not official, but it’s getting there!

I submitted some pictures to Click Models NYC online a few weeks ago (I didn’t remember that I even sent them until I got this e-mail). They replied saying they wanted more pictures. However, not the first time this has happened. I have sent more pictures before, but don’t hear anything after. So anyways, I sent the pictures I posted above. We will wait and see!

Spring Men’s Preview and Interview with Epperson from Project Runway

Special thanks to Carrie, Taryn, Jill, Blaire, Kayvon, Cori and Raeanne for posting comments!

Fashion and Entertainment

An all new season of Project Runway starts today. I don’t regularly watch the show, but when I do, it is cool to see the work that goes into making what they do. Epperson, from last season, has become a friend of mine and I asked him a few questions about his experience.

What was the most surprising thing about being on the show? The judges.
What is one thing that people wouldn’t know from watching the show? The true/real pressure that took place.
Most shocking moment? Arguing on air with Krystal.
Is your life different now than before the show? If so, how? Everywhere I go I’m recognized. Constantly requesting autographs and photos. It’s great [and] it’s a part of it all.
Working on a new collection? Yes, I presented 2010 spring during fashion week and currently working on special projects and a capsule line for fall 2010.

What do you look for when casting models? I look for natural beauty in male and female.
Do you have any favorites? Males or females? Thiago- New York Models- Dior Campaign/ Liya K.
It is not unknown that the industry is rather cookie cutter, in terms of look and race. Why do you think there is a lack of minorities at the top? Even though minorities are who keep many of these businesses open, we are NOT in charge. We haven’t the POWER.

What do you think it would take, for someone like me, to make it to the top? Where is the top? I would say prayer for true direction. Perseverance. Faith. Willpower. You have a good look. “That’s how we met”. So if this truly what you want, you MUST go for it…. test test test till you don’t want to any more, then start again. Strive for perfection, don’t settle…Epperson

Here is a quick look into some of what you will be seeing in men’s fashion this spring.

The last two pictures are from http://lookbook.nu/. Tim, from Germany, I think represents the more realistic look for what men’s style will be like this spring. Fredric. I’m obsessed with this look. I want all of it, even though its a winter look. My motto is if you can rock it, which he does, then its good all year round.

The Happenings

Friday, the 8th, I came back to Boston. That night, I went to the gym with Claudia. Then later we went to Justin’s and played Wii and Rockband. So much fun, until later when we got denied at a bar then drama ensued.

I went back to work on Saturday at the Fitch. Some dude tried stealing a bag full of Fierce haha. Guess he really likes it? I was supposed to work on Sunday at 12, but I thought I was supposed to work at 2. So as I was about to leave, I got the call from Peter, one of my managers saying that I didn’t need to come in anymore because they got someone to cover me. WOOPS!

Saturday night was interesting. A friend from France was in town, and we went to a bar, then a club. I spent a lot of money, but it was fun. I should have stopped by The Estate to say hi to the lovely Cori, who is manager of VIP at The Estate.

I filled out a questionnaire for Stephen Cabral Studio. I want to get a personal trainer this semester, but not really at Fitrec. This studio seems like the best for me, but it is so expensive and I am only looking for a once a week thing, so I am going to see if they can work something out.

I finally got paid for a job I did, what feels like forever ago, for Ruelala. I should have two more checks coming in, which is making my goal to save for this summer. All I need to do is book 5 jobs this semester and I will be content 🙂

I am pretty sure I will be going to NYC Jan 28th for my friend Pedro’s birthday party. Let me know if you want to hang out if you are in town!

Today- the 13th- I was supposed to shoot for Ruelala. However, today was the first day of classes and I thought the more mature choice was to pass on the shoot, but also passing the extra money. I made the WRONG choice. one class was canceled, another class was a giant lecture, and lastly the one discussion I had was done in 30 minutes. FML.

Next time, I am going to post my digitals. This way I can track any progress that I might make. My goal is to lose 4% body fat by May. Any tips?

And remember, it feels better without a condom (J. D) … JUST KIDDING.

Last post before back to the Bean…

That’s right… Friday I am going back to Boston. I am already excited for this semester to be over and done.

Happy Birthday to my dad!

And thanks too Blaire, Lindsey, Mariah, Aly and Lauren for posting on the last entry! Keep them coming guys!

According to model.com these are the current top 5 male models on the scene right now. Check them out and comment on what you think. Personally, I think there needs to be some color; I think my picture would look might fine with a number 1 next to it… just sayin’ 🙂 Hopefully they will have a comment for me next time, I tried getting in touch with them. Either they were sketched out, or just didnt want to respond 😦 Also, River, below, look out for him in the fast approaching shows in New York.

http://models.com/model_culture/50topmalemodels/top50.cfm?fnumber=5&lnumber=1

Also Tanner and Cameron’s pictures are above. I worked with both of them at Epic Hollister in Soho in Manhattan. Both of them are with Click Models in New York. The picture of Tanner doing a “model-esque” pull up is a shot for VMAN magazine- http://www.vman.com/ . Tanner is actually from the same area as me in Florida and turns out we have a bunch of mutual friends. The other shots of Tanner and Cameron are for Sport and Style shot by Richard P. Also featured model is Nate Gill (Major Model Management- NYC), shot for Hollister.

Also, as some of you may know… Cristiano Ronaldo will be taking over for David Beckham in the Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear campaign… the ads should debut soon so look out! I guess soccer players are in??

Diet

1/3/2010

Detox Day 1- So there is a special juice that you drink for two days. I am only supposed to have fruits and veggies with it so I have had the juice, blueberries, cucumber, cantaloupe, and carrots. After my workout I had a protein shake. I am going to try oatmeal tonight just so I have something of more substance and don’t starve my body.

1/4/2010

Detox Day 2- Woke up and had some blueberries and cantaloupe. Later, I had a few mini rice crisps and scrambled egg whites.

1/5/2010

Oatmeal for breakfast. Two hours later I had a massive protein shake (made with water) and a peanut butter granola bar. I have been snacking on baked lays and Wheaties. One scoop of ice cream (weakness). Dinner consisted of protein shake (half milk-water) blueberries and cantaloupe.

1/6/2010

Oatmeal for breakfast with a protein shake. After my workout, had another protein shake. About 2 hours later I had a a non fat latte with a oats and honey granola bar. Later, I had another protein shake (I bought some protein mix and I am trying to drink it all before I go back to Boston) and a slice of banana bread. Went to Carabbas for dinner. ATE SO MUCH. I am embarrassed. Banana bread AND peanut M&Ms.

1/7/2010

Protein shake in the am.

Exercise

1/3/2010

Today I did 50 minutes on the Cybex Arc Trainer and did a machine circuit workout with some ab stuff.

1/4/2010

Today I am going to do a really fun interval run workout (sense the sarcasm?) On treadmill- 15 minute warm-up at a moderate pace- I do 7.0. After the warm-up I start the 30 minute interval- 2 minutes at 9.5, 1 minute at 7.0. The remaining 15 minutes is at a 7.0. Then I do 9-12 sets of ab exercises.

1/5/2010

Today I did a 15 minute warm-up run. Did a circuit workout, but heavier weight than usual, superset with various ab exercises. Then 15 minutes on the StairMaster.

1/6/2010

7.5 mile run and light ab exercises.

The Happenings

Detox is making me pee so much.

Everyone in my household here in Florida is back at work/ school this week so I am stranded alone. The days I have a car I am just running errands and what not. I am hoping to have nice weather before I go back to Boston on Friday.

Stranded on Monday without a car, I did some work outside on our yard. We are getting a pool put in, so there are some bushes that need to be cleared. Then did some laundry and somehow found myself watching the Miley Cyrus/ Hannah Montana concert on Disney… KILL ME! So in trying to find something else to watch as an alternative, I notice that The Hills is on. The show started going downhill a while ago and I am actually glad Lauren Conrad decided to leave, because I actually like her. Now with Kristin Cavallari as the host or whatever, and the most nauseating couple, Heidi Montag-Pratt and Spencer Pratt, I am reconsidering which Hell would be worse, the one with constant Hannah Montana or stuck with Spiedi? What would you prefer?

In other news, my long term bff, Jill, is going to try out to be a Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader. She called me asking to help her get her running endurance up, so she is meeting me later so I can help her get a program together to train.

My best friend from BU is studying abroad this semester in Ecuador and I just got an email from her and lets just say it was hilarious…

I want a blackberry bt dubs… Im trying to make that happen–> wish me luck!

Diet-

As I mentioned in the last blog, I ate a bit too much on NYE. But hopefully I can fix that with the help of recording everything, or most of it, I eat on here… I decided that on 1/2/2010 I am going to do a 48 hour detox to cleanse my body and during the two days only eat fruits and veggies. Its a great way to rid your body of toxins, shed a few pounds and start from scratch. For me anyways, it tends to help the frequent cravings I get for sweet or processed foods.

1/1/2010

Lowfat vanilla yogurt with frozen blueberries

Honey Oat nature valley bar

*** I am not ano, but legit am still full form everything I ate last night, including the 3 slices of pizza I ate after midnight- starting off the new year right!

Protein Shake (water based)- about an hour after my workout

Dinner- small- a bit of turkey, mashed potatoes, peas, corn, stuffing- sounds like a lot, but didnt have much of any

then my weakness… I had some bomb apple pie and a mini scoop of vanilla ice cream

slice of pizza at like 330am— reoccurring trend?

1/2/2010

Hot chocolate and blueberries

Protein shake

small fry from chick-fil-a

Frozen pink lemonade, some peanut m&ms and like 4 twizzlers

vanilla yogurt and blueberries, peanut butter granola bar

egg whites scrambled with two pieces toast

1/3/2010

*”*I started my 48 detox diet today… so nothing but this juice stuff from GNC and fruits and veggies for two days… wish me luck!!

Workouts

1/1/2010

Today was a light workout. I seemed to not have much energy, probably because I haven’t eaten much today. I only did a 15 minute warm up run then a circuit workout and some ab exercises.

1/2/2010

60 minutes on stair master and ab exercises was my plan but I get to the gym at 730 and then I hear announcement… Gym will be closing in 30 minutes… really? So I only did 25 minutes of cardio… its ok though cause I’m a bit burnt out

The Happenings

So this summer, I am going to live in Manhattan. Hopefully I can sign with an agency, hopefully DNA, and book some jobs. But regardless, I saved enough money to live from May through August in the city. Not gonna lie, its gonna be sick so if you are able to, come visit and stay with me. I have already been searching for places to live. It has been an interesting process to say the least.

The other night, I was emailing so many people, via craigslist ads, about apartments. I got a reply back from one particular lady who I did not remember emailing but saw that she was offering an apartment for 650 a month, utilities included and furnished. the pictures she sent were beautiful. The apartment is in Greenwich Village, a high rise, doorman, gym= perfect. But too perfect?

So I explained to the woman that I was extremely interested, but could not move in until May and that the apartment was probably going to be no longer available by then. But I guess I made an impression on her and her husband (who I talked to on the phone and clarified their motives. They were relocated to the UK for at least 8 years, but recently bought the apartment and did not want to sell it. They were not concerned about money but just wanted someone to look after the apartment. Sounds good to me! But again… too perfect?

So I was talking to my aunt Blaire, who has experience in all this stuff and she thought it was fishy, so she began trying to find information on these people. Meanwhile, I told them that in order to ensure I could have the apartment, that I would look after it from Jan- to May, meaning I would go twice a month and care for it and what not and not pay rent until I actually moved in. They agreed. So they asked for money to cover the costs of sending the keys and other information (access codes and lease information). While this all sounds good, it was small things that made me nervous. For instance, I am only 19, and most people would not just give a 19 year old an apartment that normal rent is about 6ooo a month. Also they would avoid certain questions such as the unit number and their business’s name. While they did send a copy of the man’s Driver’s license, registered to NJ… there were some articles about a older couple, near the name age, who were charged with fraud and embezzlement… SKETCHY… at that point I decided this was too weird.

But good news is, found another apartment in Gramercy, cheap, nice, but same sort of situation. could possibly be to perfect. But if there is any lesson I learned from watching The City, and specifically Olivia, never sign for the first apartment you see… So the fraud one was the first, right? So this one in Gramercy, should work out… lets hope!

In other news, Friday night was interesting. My friend James ordered me to go out with him and some of his friends in town. I did. We went to Ybor city, and for all you Tampons, you are familiar with Ybor, non-Tampons, you are not. It is the main club, bar area but also known for sketchiness. We went to a place called Czar. First time going. very different than places I have every been. (Estate- Boston, The Gates, Hudson Terrace, Veranda, La Pomme, Tenjune, 1oak, etc- NYC) Very different scene but I thought it was fun-ny. So I decided to dance on the booth/ table and have a good time. Pictures were taken but they are not up yet so those will be posted soon…

My first post… a bit long

Hey Upper East Siders…

No, too Gossip Girl-y

Once upon a time…

No, too fairy tale-y

Hey, my name is Taylor…

Cheesy and cliché, but it will do

First I would like to say Happy New Year… I didnt do anything crazy last night. Instead, I stayed home with family and family friends. We had pizza, chicken parm, and this bomb raspberry cake. So much for the whole eating healthy thing last night. Ill go to the gym and work out extra hard 🙂

So I decided to start this blog to chronicle my “journey,” before I tell you about that, let me tell you about me.

I am a sophomore at Boston University. I am 19, birthday is 9-11-90, yeah I know, crappy birthday. I am majoring in public relations, trying to minor in French (haha we will see about that). I was born in Rockford, Illinois, but spent most of my years in Tampa, Florida. I have worked for Abercrombie and Fitch for over two years now (you get used to the smell and the music- overall it’s a great company to work for). I played basketball and football in high school and ran cross country. I love theater, movies, and food (my only weakness). I have seen Harry Potter more times than ever necessary. I think I have an addiction to buying and watching movies. I also work at the BU fitness and recreational center (Fitrec) which is good because it gives me a reason to trek across campus to go to the gym. I am in the college of general studies (CGS) at BU. I am a CGS dean’s host. I love New York City, fashion, modeling, Gossip Girl (even though its going down), and Desperate Housewives. I get distracted easily and go off on tangents. Anything else that is relevant I am sure will come up, otherwise just ask.

So before moving to Boston, I decided I wanted to try and become a model. At the time I thought it was near impossible, because I used to be fat and it was never a thing that crossed my mind. I used to walk by an Abercrombie and wish that I could look like those guys, but never thought it was possible (still don’t, but working on it). Anyways, I had my cousin Lindsey take some pictures, then I sent said pictures to various agencies in NYC and Boston. I heard back from a few in Boston (Model Club, Dynasty, and some other I forgot the name off, but it was sketch when I met with them) and none in NYC. I ended up working with Model Club in Boston. I got good work with them (Puma, AJ Wright) but I just didn’t feel quite comfortable with them. I was at the Puma shoot one day, and started talking to my friend Nikki, who heard my thoughts on my current agency, and suggested I go see this agency, Maggie Inc. I took her advice and they liked me and I have been with them for about a year now. I have down work for Ruelala ( ruelala.com – let me know if you want an invite to join the site), AJ Wright and Rag and Bone. My picture was featured in a local Boston magazine, Stuff, for the event I did in Boston for Rag and Bone. Also I did the fashion spread for the newest BU publication, Buzz, which was pretty cool too. Also I was an extra for Sex and the City 2…

That is my status in Boston. I would like to do more, but its hard with school and what not. I really love the industry, even though it gets a bad rep sometimes and I think is often rightfully misunderstood. I want to do more with modeling.

After getting settled in Boston, I decided to go to NYC and just go to as many agencies as possible and see what happens. From what I remember…

Red Models- I walked in literally 4 minutes before they were “technically” open and the guy said “what do you want we are not open” I showed him my book and he said good look but we don’t want you. The story is a lot better when I can act it out, so ask if you want me to tell you in person.

I walked in to a women only agency

Most though, I just dropped pictures off and didn’t hear anything back.

New York Models however was the catch of the day. Sort of.

As I mentioned before, I heard back from New York Models (

newyorkmodels.com ), in NYC. I went and met with one of the agents who said that I have a good look but they weren’t really taking on anyone new with the economy and the struggle for jobs with their existing models, but to keep in touch.

The pictures above are from the set of Sex and the City 2 (taken from my cell phone and credit to Pedro A.) There are also photos from Abercrombie and Fitch in Boston, a shot from Ruelala, and a picture from my portfolio (CS Photography) 🙂

So after the long day, there was still some hope. They ended up sending me to a casting which was crazy but awesome. But after some time I decided to keep looking for agencies. Click models, I submit pictures online, they send email requesting more, I send, I don’t hear anything again. This past summer however I was talking to agency, which I submitted pictures through my Model mayhem profile, and set up a meeting. DNA models ( dnamodels.com ). They are premier in high fashion, which is what I want to ideally do, but I am more commercial, which pays more. I went in and met and they liked me, but said since I didn’t live there and went to school in Boston, they would wait until I could live in NYC full time. I have tried to stay in contact since but since the industry is always changing, I am constantly submitting photos to agencies. I really want to move full time, but I also do not want to sacrifice my education…

I also work at Epic Hollister in SOHO in Manhattan. I was a greeter there, but they told me to bulk up and come back to submit pictures to get approved. I go to NYC once or twice a month and am able to work there, a perk for working for the Abercrombie and Fitch company. I made pretty good money. I am going to live in the city this summer and see what I can do with  modeling, and hopefully, when I get “approved” work for the store and make some money.

So here is where you all come in. My plan for this blog is update you on my whole modeling thing on anything that is or isn’t happening. Post my workouts and eating regiments for the week. And just talk about my life in general. I want to also post my digitals (just simple pictures that I submit to agencies) to keep track of my look and body. I am doing this for support and motivation. My plan is to go big and I tend to not stop something until I have finished it. I will comment on fashion, celeb gossip and world news.

My goal is to have a successful career in the modeling industry. I want to walk in shows domestic and abroad, and make some money to pay off student loans. The blog is called “Blazing to Street and Avenue” because I want to blaze a trail for myself and others. I think that models have become cookie cutter, and there is a lapse in minority models. I want to change that. I also want to change how male modeling is viewed and it would be nice to see a less difference in how much men and women are paid. Also, it’s annoying how more and more celebrities are taking over the models job. You see more and more celebs, less and less models on covers of magazines. Street and avenue (like 34th and 5th) refers to NYC, my current favorite city, and fashion capital. Also special shout out to Kayvon, Claudia, Kelly, and Charlotte for helping me with the title of the blog 🙂

Also, this wont always be this long. This time only because a lot to cover on the first day.

My new years resolution is to be better in all aspects of life, but concentrating on handling money better. However, I can’t take the credit for my resolution. Jenn S. –> Thank you!

What did you do for NYE? What is your resolution?
